Why Celebrate Women’s History Month 2022

Why do we celebrate Women's History Month? Do you know why March 8th is International Women’s Day? How do we celebrate this day and this month?

With those questions in mind, I started my "rabbit hole" journey today. I found out that there was a women-led labor movement back in 1908 in New York. Around 15,000 women marched for shorter hours, better pay, voting rights, and an end to child labor. After the movement, the whole world paid attention to women's rights, and the first International Women's Day was celebrated in 1911. There was a slogan “bread and roses” that caught my eyes. Do you want to have a guess what does that slogan means? Okay. You probably already have guessed the right answer. It is so interesting to me that they chose bread to represent economic security and roses represent a better working and living situation. Yes! Women deserve to live better and have financial independence. Say that sentence out loud with me if you identify as a woman or you have a woman in your life that you love and support. Woohoo, feel good about it, isn't it?

How have you been celebrating this day? What do you want to do differently in the future? Interact with us or leave us a comment! We want to hear you.
